Green fighting for the Gray

When most people think of Irish-men Fighting in The War between the states They think of The Irish Brigade(Union) and the "Gallant 69th",However there were many Irish Units in Confederate service.There were also Irish confederates that gained great fame as they rose through the ranks (Patrick Cleburne).It is estimated that 40,000 to 80,000 Irishmen served in confederate ranks.Does the fact that Irish-men fought for the Confederacy suprise you?,or do you have any questions/ interests on the subject?
